Dayo Wong: playing his typical role as the comedian on this series, Dayo opens the series with his scene as the seizing, disruptively contagious passenger who worms his way craftily into a first class upgrade. As his character develops as "Mr. Mak" (a name that he must be called after staying 30 mins more at any given hotel) the viewers still are puzzled as to whether or not "Mr. Mak" really is a classy and rich person. Yet this illusion is quickly shattered as he makes the hotel manager "Mimi" exchange 10$ american to Hk dollars for him. Furthermore, his attack on the waiter for giving him a "fossil" to eat helps him worm his way into a free breakfast to go.
However, beyond this comedic aspect of Mr. Mak, we see another layer (just like his character in "to catch the uncatchable") Mr. Mak turns out to be an mba entrepreneur genius TJ Mak- who mysteriously disappeared from the business world a year ago. His impressive bio leaves the audience wondering why exactly he lives so frivolously when he is the master at money-making. As the story develops there is a hint to the fact that he really did kill his business partner Martin (as accused by the mother of Martin in her alzeirmer rants)
Charmaine Sheh: enters the scene in a gorgeous white gown and splattered with designer accessories. Her classy appearance is quickly squandered by her business card as "debt collector" but her witty flexibility is seen with the way she handles the situation at the pool party where she saves the debt-ridden man Mr Chong with the facade of the girl collecting money for the children in mainland China. Later on as the story progresses, we see that Lam Miu Miu (alot of water) is actually the daughter of a noodle-maker and her appearance of designer glamour is created by blowing her credit card limit month after month. As a shopaholic, Charmaine stops at nothing to keep her style in check as displayed by her constant change of appearances scene after scene.
Yet looking past her profession as a debt collector, one sees the soft nature of Charmaine when she refuses to collect the money from Yue Mong Leen after seeing her tell her son that they don't have money for him to go to preschool. Although a debt collector that stops at nothing to collect from Dayo Wong, their chemistry is exciting and new as Dayo keeps blowing Charmaine's fuse with his insane antics.
One of the better series of the year, this comedy is definitely worth following- not only for Dayo's hilarious acting but also for Charmaine's character as the money-hoarding yet kindly debt collecting "ah jeh". =)
